Each of us lives our very own personal experience - reactions, sensations, guilt, sadnesses, blocks after the loss of a precious baby. I wanted to share my experience, not only for the many other ‘sisters’ that I have and have come across in the world who have lived the same life-changing experience, but also for the vast number of men that I have also met along my journey, who seem to get forgotten about to women when it comes to healing after losing a baby…
So many men and woman, young and old, of all races and social status, have known that numbing, aching pain in the heart, that lessens over time but never fully leaves. This message is for you, and for the people around you who might never have experienced this but have been sympathetic, understanding and supportive for you…
My particular story of little 'Jasmin’ isn’t important now here, but the things I, and we, sure can/have LEARNED are:
1 Strangely, the DEATH of the little baby, teaches us how to LIVE.
I appreciate the joy of my life even more since the death. I’ve learned to live even more fully and to do all the things that she wasn’t able. That one life is gone forever and so to LIVE my life, rather than lose it too. It’s not about gratitude, and feeling grateful for being alive, but more the realisation that life can be altered or lost so suddenly, within minutes. I really have learned to LIVE each day, even if I don’t do anything special, I take care of myself and the people around me by sharing expressions of LOVE and APPRECIATION. A simple whatsapp <3️ message or a hug every single day.
2 Life is a magical mess. I’ve learned that planning, manifesting and creating a life and future is a wonderful thing, but more importantly to just 'go with the flow’ and be more SUBMISSIVE and reactive, rather than proactive all the time, to all that life brings. It’s normal to crave a certain type of life and all the expected events within it, but learning that within this, life CAN - and DOES bring a big mess. Rather than constantly being preoccupied with searching for answers and reasons to this mess, to instead SAVE your precious and limited energy to looking after your heart, mind and soul better for self-comfort, as no one can really do this for you, especially when you hear a baby crying or see cute baby clothes in a shop window and start thinking…In these moments I’ve learned to stop questioning: WHY…?
3 Even the people in life that I’ve never got to know can have more of an impact on me than people who I’ve known for 20 years. I’ve learned that simply knowing or meeting someone momentarily, for seconds even or a passing in the street, the way they look, act or react, can have a great impact on how I think and feel from there on. People unknown can have a huge impact on me and so I’ve learned to be even more respectful of people’s actions and behaviours as you never know what’s going on inside the depths of someone’s soul in that moment. What pains and suffering they might also have. This has made me feel even more united to people - known or not.
There sure is a time and place for the initial and momentary grief and tears, but by having and losing little Jasmin, I have learned that I’m more appreciative, not stronger, about life, more thankful and definitely more compassionate to those around me.
